Age Limit for the Dune Buggy in Dubai
In Dubai, the minimum legal age to drive a dune buggy is 18 years.
Dune buggies are high-powered off-road vehicles designed for rugged desert terrains, and controlling them requires physical strength, quick reflexes, and sound judgment.
Passenger age limit for dune buggies
While the driver must be 18+, the minimum passenger age is usually 12 years.
Some operators may allow slightly younger children for short, slow-paced rides within a controlled area, but for full desert adventures, 12 years is the standard.
Why is there an age restriction for dune buggy rides?
Dune buggy riding isn’t just a casual drive—it involves:
Navigating steep dunes
Controlling at high speeds
Responding quickly to changing terrain
For safety reasons, Dubai’s tourism regulations require drivers to meet the minimum age and, in some cases, hold a valid driving license (depending on the operator).
Can children ride dune buggies in Dubai?
Children cannot drive dune buggies, but they can ride as passengers with a qualified driver. Many families book two-seater buggies so parents can drive while children enjoy the ride.
